Baalke talks, but doesn’t say 49ers won’t trade Kaepernick
Over the past two weeks, Colin Kaepernick has been on the 49ers’ practice field, in their quarterbacks meeting room and his image has remained on a banner outside Levi’s Stadium.
Given his displeasure with the organization, who would have expected Kaepernick to still be sporting red and gold at this point of the offseason?
“I’ve maintained from day one, as has the head coach, that I’d like to get him out there and work within this system with this coaching staff,” Baalke said.
Kaepernick, of course, has twice met with Broncos general manager John Elway at Elway’s house outside Denver since he requested a trade through his agents in late February.
Whether it’s the quarterback, whether it’s the defensive lineman … it doesn’t matter.
Do the 49ers really want their potential starting quarterback to double as an unhappy camper who has expressed a desire to be traded?
Kaepernick hasn’t said anything to the media since he spoke to reporters the day after last season’s regular-season finale.
[...] despite his trade request, Baalke said he hasn’t had in-person discussion with Kaepernick since the quarterback returned to Santa Clara for the start of the offseason program.
The Broncos, his most interested suitor, will reportedly visit with former Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer, 30, who has made 22 starts over the past two seasons.
[...] the Eagles moved up to the No. 2 spot in the draft in a trade with the Browns.
The Eagles and Rams, who have the No. 1 pick, are expected to select quarterbacks - Cal’s Jared Goff and North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz - to start the draft.
