Senate agrees to transfer schools back to New Orleans board

(AP) — The Louisiana Senate has unanimously backed a bill that would shift New Orleans public schools from state control back to the Orleans Parish School Board.

The state has run 52 New Orleans public schools for the past decade, under the Recovery School District that was created in 2003 to take over failing schools.
