The Philadelphia Police Department admitted that its unmarked license plate surveillance truck was disguised as a Google Maps vehicle.
In an email to Motherboard, Vice’s tech news site, the police said that “the placing of any particular decal on the vehicle was not approved through any chain of command” and that the department ordered the decals removed.
The messaging option announced Friday is being offered initially only to a small group of people with YouTube’s app installed on an iPhone or Android device.
By removing a reason for its audience to switch to another app, YouTube can generate more opportunities to show ads to the more than 1 billion people who watch video on its service.
