Giants’ Santiago Casilla apologizes to Bruce Bochy
Having thought about it overnight, I realize I have to respect my manager.
Casilla went to manager Bruce Bochy’s office in the Chase Field visitors’ clubhouse to say he was sorry for what he called “my outburst.”
Bochy pulled him with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning of Thursday’s opener, and Casilla had a fit on the mound, stormed off the field and vented to the media afterward.
In a postgame interview, Casilla said Bochy “didn’t have faith in me” and that he should have been told why he was being removed, adding, It’s not a kid out there.
Friday, Casilla’s stance softened, and he agreed that summoning Javier Lopez to face lefty swinging Jake Lamb was the right move.
A lot of people in here know Casilla really well.
