Jason Day goes wire-to-wire to win Players Championship
The best field in golf was no match for Jason Day at the Players Championship.
Day won for the seventh time in the past 10 months, titles that include a major, a World Golf Championship and two FedEx Cup playoff events.
Day beat Kevin Chappell by four shots to pick up the $1.89 million winner’s check from the $10.5 million purse.
The greens at the Stadium Course were not nearly as severe as Saturday, when only six players managed to break par.
Wang Jeung-hun won the Mauritius Open in Beau Champs, closing with an even-par 72 for a one-stroke victory at 6-under 282.
Wang, 20, who won last week in Morocco, is the first European Tour player to win in consecutive weeks since McIlroy in 2014 at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and PGA Championship.
