Donald Newhouse receives honorary degree from Syracuse U

Newhouse, president of Advance Publications, received an honorary doctor of letters from the university and also delivered the commencement address to the 5,470 who received their degrees at Syracuse's 162nd commencement.

Newhouse said he entered the university as a shy teenager and was assigned a bunk at the State Fairgrounds five miles from campus because the university was crowded with veterans returning from military service.
