World War I era bomb found at park office safely detonated

The Newport Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1NvBYJi ) the bomb was found last week by the fort's facility maintenance manager on a desk in an office and was safely detonated by a Navy ordnance squad.

Newport Deputy Fire Chief Paul Faerber says the maintenance manager immediately recognized what it was and took the bomb outside before contacting authorities.
