Misdirected emails may have led to mural mistake

Des Moines public works director Jonathan Gano told The Des Moines Register (http://dmreg.co/1V7wdDq ) he supported plans for a mural painted by students on a flood wall outside the school district's Central Campus in Des Moines.

On Monday, project organizers learned the mural, which included the faces of Cesar Chavez and Maya Angelou, was painted over by the city's graffiti removal workers.
