Khris Davis belts another HR, A’s sweep Rangers
Oakland’s left fielder, obtained from Milwaukee for two minor-leaguers just before spring training, hit his fourth homer in two games Wednesday, a solo shot to help the A’s to an 8-1 victory over Texas and a series sweep. Davis has homered nine times in the past 14 games - and he has 32 homers since last Aug. 6, the most in the majors by three (Nolan Arenado entered the day with 29 homers in that span). Hitting three homers and finishing it off with a grand slam that speaks to his talent level. There’s little doubt that Valencia and Davis are the difference, particularly during the A’s four-game winning streak in which the team has faced four lefties in a row. Valencia had a three-homer game Sunday, Davis a three-homer game Tuesday, including a walkoff grand slam. Valencia, of course, contributed, knocking a two-run single in the first, and Marcus Semien added RBI singles in the first and eighth. Yonder Alonso rapped an RBI single off the wall in right in the eighth, Tyler Ladendorf walked to force in a run and Coco Crisp provided a sacrifice fly. Rich Hill worked six innings and allowed just three hits, a walk and one run; Desmond singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Prince Fielder in the sixth.
