4-star PG Charlie Moore commits to Cal

Charlie Moore has committed to Cal, the four-star point guard told The Chronicle.

[...] when head coach Josh Pastner left the Tigers for Georgia Tech last month, Moore reopened his recruitment.

Moore was named Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year in March after leading Morgan Park High School with 25.1 points, 5.6 assists and 2.9 steals per game.

Moore will help offset the departure of All-Pac-12 point guard Tyrone Wallace, who led Cal last season with 15.3 points and 4.4 assists per game.

“Just me being a leader, me controlling the game,” Moore said of what he hopes to bring the Bears.

Last month, forward Ivan Rabb — a projected lottery pick — spurned the NBA draft to return for his sophomore year.
