Taliban leader Mullah Mansour believed killed in U.S. air strike
WASHINGTON — The United States conducted an air strike Saturday against Taliban leader Mullah Mansour, the Pentagon said, and a U.S. official said Mansour was believed to have been killed.
The Taliban ruled Afghanistan according to a harsh interpretation of Islamic law until the group was toppled by a U.S.-led invasion after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
