Ex-NYC cop convicted in Social Security benefits scheme

NEW YORK (AP) — A former New York City police officer accused of faking a mental disability to get more than $200,000 in Social Security benefits has been convicted of grand larceny.

More than 100 officers and firefighters have pleaded guilty in the scheme, including four ringleaders who've said they helped them fake post-traumatic stress symptoms.
