Massachusetts officer shot, condition unknown; suspect loose

AUBURN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a police officer has been shot in a central Massachusetts town and the suspect is on the loose.

Massachusetts State Police say in a statement that an Auburn police officer was shot at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Auburn is about 45 miles southwest of Boston.

Officials say the officer was transported to a hospital. The identity and medical condition of officer were not immediately available.

The shooting is under investigation.
