Cops: Daly City man, 93, beaten by teen in home invasion

A 93-year-old Daly City man was bashed in the head with a glass object and his mouth was taped shut in what police called a “horrific” home invasion and robbery allegedly committed by a 17-year-old boy, who was arrested in San Francisco. The victim, who walks with the aid of a cane, suffered head and back injuries in the violent encounter with the youth, who confessed to breaking into the man’s house and assaulting him over the weekend, Daly City police officials said. The teenager, whose name was not released because he is a minor, confessed to breaking into the elderly man’s house, stealing his wallet, dragging him around, beating him over the head with a glass object, taping his mouth shut and ransacking several rooms, officials said. After waiting 30 minutes, the man ventured downstairs with his cane and into the garage to the circuit breaker panel, at which point the teenager jumped out and hit him in the head with a glass object that shattered into pieces, officials said. The teen was booked on three counts of burglary, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, false imprisonment, elder abuse, theft from an elder, domestic battery and for a probation violation.
