All-Star Eavesdrops: Belt says thanks, buys pizza for Giants’ entire front office
Belt says thanks, buys pizza for Giants’ entire front office
* So appreciative the Giants supported him in his bid to be an All-Star, Brandon Belt -- along with his wife, Haley -- bought pizza for the entire front office, 34 boxes in all from Tony’s.
“I get to call myself an All-Star the rest of my life because of them,” said Belt, who won the final-vote runoff after an aggressive marketing campaign.
* Belt’s old teammate, Tim Lincecum, missed the 2008 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium with flu-like symptoms and dehydration and was taken to the emergency room at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
* Nice that umpire Kerwin Danley had the first-base assignment in a game that paid tribute to Tony Gwynn, Danley’s old teammate at San Diego State.
