NBA will penalize ‘Hack-a-Shaq’ strategy more often
The NBA on Tuesday amended its rule for intentional fouls away from the ball, a move meant mainly to improve quality of play in certain situations.
“In looking at the data and numerous potential solutions to combat the large increase in deliberate away-from-the-play foul situations, we believe these steps offer the most measured approach,” NBA executive Kiki VanDeWeghe said in a statement.
Keifer Sykes and Royce Oneale shared team-high honors with 16 points each for Golden State (1-2), and second-round draft pick Patrick McCaw had 11 points to score in double figures for the third straight game.
Ben Simmons, the No. 1 overall draft pick for Philadelphia (0-3), had eight points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Decision deferred: NBA owners made no decision Tuesday after a lengthy debate about moving next year’s All-Star Game from Charlotte because of North Carolina’s law limiting protection for LGBT people.
