SFJazz celebrates music of the Americas
The Great Americas Songbook, with singers such as the T Sisters, Denise Perrier, Clairdee and Paula West doing the classics as well as music from Bob Dylan, Hugh Martin and contemporary folk composers.
From there, the SFJazz series travels to another part of the Americas, Mexico, with appearances by the great Lila Downs, singer Ximena Sariñana, Diana Gameros and Los Cenzontles, then heads to New Orleans to welcome the great Dr. John and others.
The series is appropriately wide-ranging, celebrating both the diversity of music from the Americas and the element that it all has in common: cultural roots in the New World.
