Police nab new suspect in rash of San Diego homeless attacks
SAN DIEGO (AP) — A fifth transient was attacked Friday shortly before police arrested a man in a series of assaults that have left three dead and put San Diego's homeless population on edge.
Police concluded there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute him and released a new sketch of the suspected serial killer Thursday.
Nisleit told The San Diego Union-Tribune that the man resembles the suspect whose image was caught on a convenience store surveillance video after the first killing July 3.
Advocacy groups have urged homeless people to sleep closer together in well-lit areas.
