1 killed when small aircraft crashes in Kansas

WHITEWATER, Kan. (AP) — One person has died after a small aircraft crashed in southern Kansas.

Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet told KAKE-TV (http://j.mp/29CI4t3 ) that a 61-year-old man who lived in the area was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash Friday evening. He says the aircraft crashed in a rural area outside the town of Whitewater.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol are investigating.___
