Family headed to France to look for missing Berkeley student

The family of a UC Berkeley student studying abroad in Nice who has not been seen since a terror attack killed at least 84 people in the resort city is planning to fly to France to continue searching for him, relatives said Saturday. Local officials, family and university staff have been unable to track down Nick Leslie, a 20-year-old junior in the school’s College of Natural Resources. A State Department spokesman said they are aware of reports a U.S. citizen is missing. Because of privacy considerations, the spokesman said he could not provide details on the reports. “As in any case where a U.S. citizen is reported missing, we are in close touch with the family and working intensively to coordinate with French authorities to locate the individual,” the spokesman said. In early July, Tarishi Jain, an 18-year-old UC Berkeley student, was killed in a terrorist attack at a restaurant in Dhaka, Bagladesh, just after she had started an internship in the city through a university program.
