The Dude abides on Shakespearean stage

“Much Ado About Lebowski,” under the direction of Lauren Burgat for Breach Once More, adapts the Coen brothers comedy cult hit “The Big Lebowski” for the stage — specifically the Shakespearean stage.

[...] defunct Primitive Screwheads arranged the script, which it advertised as “fictitiously written by William Shakespeare,” and it was a hit when the two companies teamed up to produce it in 2011.

Mishmashing many famous lines, as well as some outright fake Shakespearean lingo, the show capitalizes on the comic contrast between the chief poet of the English language and one of the least articulate characters in cinematic history: “Yeah, well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man” becomes “Yea, well, that be, forsooth, thy opinion, lady.”

The show’s featured drink, the White Russian, is served an hour before showtime.
