Tyrann Mathieu, Arizona agree to record deal

The Cardinals and All-Pro defensive back Tyrann Mathieu have agreed to a five-year, $62.5 million contract extension, with $40 million guaranteed, a person with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday.

Mathieu tore his left ACL and LCL on a brutal hit against St. Louis in December of his rookie season and tore his right ACL in a non-contact injury after an interception late in a one-sided win at Philadelphia on Dec. 20.

Dallas quarterback Kellen Moore broke his right ankle in a training-camp practice, likely forcing the Cowboys to look outside the organization for an experienced backup.

The injury came four days after owner Jerry Jones declared his confidence in Moore, who made the first two starts of his career in the final two games last season with Tony Romo sidelined by a broken collarbone.

Running back Trent Richardson has been cut by the Ravens, who lost patience while waiting for the 2012 first-round pick to recover from injuries.
