Jesse Hahn to start for A’s on Thursday; Vogt will be No. 3 hitter

Dillon Overton will remain in the rotation, at least for the time being, and will start Friday against the Cubs at the Coliseum.

With Josh Reddick also being traded to the Dodgers, Stephen Vogt will be the A’s No. 3 hitter, Melvin said.

Danny Valencia was in right Tuesday and Melvin said Max Muncy also will play there, often based on pitching matchups, but things could change when the team calls up Brett Eibner, potentially as soon as next week.

The front office’s job is always to balance the now and the future and we felt like we got some significant pieces and needed to make the move because it didn’t sound like we were going to sign either of our guys.

Tyler Ladendorf was called up to Reddick’s roster spot, while reliever Andrew Triggs (calf) came off the disabled list and reliever J.B. Wendelken was sent back to Triple-A Nashville.
