Jury deliberates fate of man charged with killing trooper

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — Jury deliberations have begun in the trial of a 62-year-old Florida man charged with killing a New York state trooper by deliberately swerving his vehicle into the officer.

The Melrose, Florida, resident was charged with first-degree murder after authorities say he purposely drove into Trooper Christopher Skinner while the trooper was issuing a ticket along Interstate 81 near Binghamton in May 2014.
