Education group seeks to impact Oklahoma primary runoffs
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — More than two dozen candidates seeking seats in the Oklahoma House and Senate face opponents in primary runoffs in Tuesday's election, including several who are supported or opposed by a grassroots group aiming to elect more supporters of public education to the state Legislature.
In six of the seven Republican runoffs for Senate seats, the candidates include one endorsed by the group Oklahoma Parents and Educators for Public Education against one that the group has targeted as opposed to public education.
In a Republican runoff in Ada, Little said the group decided to oppose cowboy turned reality television contestant Jet McCoy because McCoy was endorsed by state Sen. Josh Brecheen, a Republican who Little said fought reforms sought by the group.
