49ers’ Kaepernick: Socks a statement on ‘rogue cops’

Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick posted a message on Instagram late Thursday morning explaining why he’s recently worn socks during practice that depict police as pigs.

[...] before these socks, which were worn before I took my public stance, are used to distract from the real issues, I want to address this immediately.

On Sunday, as he explained his decision to sit during the national anthem during the 49ers’ first three preseason games, Kaepernick cited the killings of black people by white police officers as an issue that had inspired his stance.
