Man shot trying to stop Rittenhouse Square robbery

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say a man who was shot while trying to stop a robbery in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square is expected to survive.

Witnesses told police two armed men attempted to rob a group of people in the park on Tuesday night. Police say that's when the 39-year-old intervened and was shot by one of the men.

The men fled. One is known to frequent the park.

Police are reviewing surveillance video.

The victim's name has not been released.
