Inmate recovering after stabbing inside jail

ELMORE, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama Department of Corrections inmate is recovering after a stabbing incident inside the state prison in Elmore.

WSFA-TV (http://bit.ly/2e8pqY8 ) reports it happened Monday about 2:20 p.m. Officials say an inmate at the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County was stabbed. The stabbing happened during a fight with another inmate.

The inmate was transported to a hospital for treatment. Prison officials described the injuries as non-life-threatening.___
