Cover pops off third-rail sparking BART delays

BART riders in the East Bay where dealing with major delays Monday after a cover popped off the third rail and obstructed train traffic, officials said.

A piece of white covering came off the electrified rail near the South Hayward BART station just after 1 p.m. and caused delays for trains headed to Fremont, and from Fremont to Richmond and Daly City, said Jim Allison, a BART spokesman.
