Marvel, ABC Set ‘Inhumans’ for 2017 IMAX Premiere
First two episodes of live-action series to debut exclusively in premium theaters
The first two episodes of the newly announced superhero series will premiere exclusively in IMAX theaters in September 2017.
Edited versions of the episodes will follow on ABC two weeks later, featuring new material exclusive to the network.
Marvel had previously scheduled an “Inhumans” movie for a 2019 release, but the studio announced back in April that the project had been removed from its schedule, with the Brie Larson-led “Captain Marvel” taking over its release date.
“This unprecedented alliance represents a bold, innovative approach to launching great TV content for a worldwide audience,” said Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney ABC Television Group.
“This first-of-its-kind multi-platform production, distribution and marketing agreement brings together Marvel Television’s unique brand of entertainment, ABC’s unparalleled audience and IMAX’s brand and global fanboy demographic,” said IMAX CEO, Rich Gelfond.
