Hockey Hall adds 4 more members
The Hockey Hall of Fame added its newest members Monday night as center Eric Lindros, goalie Rogie Vachon, right wing Sergei Makarov and the late coach Pat Quinn were inducted during a ceremony in Toronto.
Lindros, the MVP for the 1994-95 season, scored 372 career goals and was one of the most physical centers in the game.
There still hasn't been another player like him, with that size and skating ability and skill and some nastiness.
Vachon won 355 games in 16 seasons with four teams; Makarov became a star in Russia on the famed “KLM Line” before joining the NHL in 1989 at age 31; and Quinn was a defenseman before turning to coaching; he led Canada to Olympic gold in 2002.
The Coyotes announced a proposal to build a $400 million, 16,000-seat arena in Tempe, Ariz., by 2019.
The Islanders placed defenseman Dennis Seidenberg on injured reserve because of a broken jaw.
