Clippers rout Nets behind Chris Paul, Blake Griffin
Chris Paul had 21 points and nine assists, Blake Griffin added 20 points and the Clippers blitzed Brooklyn 127-95 in Los Angeles on Monday night to improve to an NBA-best 10-1 with their seventh straight victory.
J.J. Redick added 18 points, Luc Mbah a Moute scored 11 points and DeAndre Jordan had 14 rebounds for the Clippers, who shot 53 percent from the floor while extending the best start in franchise history.
Los Angeles raced to a 35-7 lead to start the game, highlighted by Jordan’s reverse dunk off Griffin’s alley-oop pass.
The Nets didn’t score the rest of their 14 first-quarter points until the last two minutes of the period and finished with their lowest point total in a quarter this season.
Paul re-entered the game, hitting a three-pointer that launched a 20-13 spurt and gave the Clippers a 71-47 halftime lead.
The Grizzlies used a 9-2 run sparked by Mike Conley’s three-pointer and a three-point play by Gasol to take a 94-88 lead with 1:25 left.
Harden, who posted a triple-double in his past two games, added nine assists and seven rebounds.
Anthony Davis had 25 points, 16 rebounds, four steals and two blocks, and host New Orleans won for the second time in three games after an 0-8 start.
Boston’s Kelly Olynyk then fouled New Orleans guard Tim Frazier with 2.5 seconds left, and Frazier sank one of two free-throw tries.
C.J. Miles made four three-pointers and scored 16 points, and the Pacers spoiled Frank Vogel’s return to Indiana.
