Philadelphia public schools could start before Labor Day

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The school year for Philadelphia public school students would begin before Labor Day and finish earlier in June under a new proposal set for review.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/2gak5oK ) the Philadelphia School District's chief academic support officer will introduce the proposed calendars at Tuesday's meeting of the School Reform Commission.
