Former CEO of NH steel firm sentenced in Vermont

(AP) — The former CEO of a bankrupt Berlin, New Hampshire-based steel fabrication firm that supplied construction projects around New England has been convicted in a federal fraud case.

The U.S. attorney's office for Vermont said Hanson, former chief financial officer Steven Griffin and David Driscoll, the company's outside accountant, worked together to inflate the amount of inventory the company had on hand and other aspects of its finances in applying for financing with the St. Johnsbury-based Passumpsic Savings Bank and other financial institutions.
