Warriors: More to come from Thompson?
Warriors: More to come from Thompson? If past is prologue, Klay Thompson should have a pretty good game Wednesday night against the Clippers. On Monday, Thompson became only the third Golden State Warrior to score at least 55 points in a game, joining Rick Barry (who did it three times) and Purvis Short (twice). In the next games after their respective outbursts, Barry and Short combined to average 26.4 points — a number held down by Barry’s 16 points in the 1974 season finale, which followed his Warriors’ West Coast-record 64 a night earlier. Short scored 30 points following both of his big games: 57 on Jan. 7, 1984, and 59 on Nov. 17 of the same year. In Barry’s two 55-point games, he subsequently scored 32 (Jan. 25, 1975) and 24 (March 27, 1978). Thompson, who made 21 of 33 shots from the field (including 8 of 14 three-pointers) and 10 of 11 free throws, has averaged 18.5 points in 20 career games against the Clippers. Player (Dates) ??
