Utah to spend $138,000 to restore famous outlaw's cabin
CIRCLEVILLE, Utah (AP) — Utah state officials are going to spend $138,000 to restore a decaying wood cabin in Piute County that has become a tourist spot because it's believed to be the boyhood home of outlaw Butch Cassidy.
The Utah Legislature has authorized $138,000 to disassemble the decrepit cabin outside Circleville and put it back together piece by restored piece, KSL-TV reported (http://bit.ly/2fF0BId ).
Fred Hayes, director of the Utah Division of State Parks, said his agency will develop information signs for the historic site.
In the popular 1969 movie about the outlaw, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," the gang of outlaws flees to South America and dies in a shootout in 1908.
