Walking the streets with ‘Unsilent Night’

“Unsilent Night,” composer Phil Kline’s participatory gloss on the tradition of door-to-door caroling, has developed into a nationwide phenomenon over the course of nearly a quarter of a century, and there’s absolutely no reason why the Bay Area should be left out.

Thanks to the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, anyone with a portable music player can take part in this joyous seasonal experience.

Back in the day, participants used to tote boom boxes and cassette players, but the digital revolution has opened it up to lighter-weight CDs and MP3s.
