New Tennessee plan would give school districts more control
On Tuesday, state education officials released the first draft of Tennessee's version of the Every Student Succeeds Act, the federal education law President Barack Obama signed last year, The Tennessean reported (http://tnne.ws/2hgHYdZ).
Education Commissioner Candice McQueen is beginning a tour of the state this week to gather input on the plan, which emphasizes transparency, accountability and school turnaround.
Other changes include more money coming through the state's funding formula for education spending as well as grants.
