University awards degree to campus officer killed on duty

DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit university has awarded an advanced degree to a campus police officer, who was one credit short of graduating when he was fatally shot a few weeks ago.

Associate professor Loraleigh Keashly tells the Detroit Free Press (http://on.freep.com/2hqlHKY ) that Rose was interested in "doing policing in a more humane way."
