Cracknell helps Stars end Flyers’ 10-game win streak, 3-1
The bouncing puck helped the Dallas Stars end the Philadelphia Flyers’ long winning streak.
Adam Cracknell scored the tie-breaking goal on a rebound early in the third period to lead the host Stars to a 3-1 victory Saturday, snapping the Flyers’ 10-game win streak.
Dallas’ Radek Faksa and Jordie Benn also scored and Antti Niemi stopped 31 shots, including three during a Flyers power play in the closing minutes.
Flyers goalie Steve Mason stopped a shot by John Klingberg, but the puck rebounded to Cracknell’s feet and he sent a wrist shot into the net for his fourth goal of the season.
Benn, whose penalty gave Philadelphia its only power play with 2:58 left, scored into an empty net with 18 seconds to go.
A week earlier, Philadelphia had come back from a 2-1 deficit with three power-play goals in the final four minutes.
The Flyers lead the NHL with 28 goals with the man advantage.
“We learned from our last game in Philly that we had to keep that team off the power play,” Cracknell said.

Detroit defenseman Mike Green was hurt in the final minute, skated off the ice and didn’t stop on the bench en route to the locker room.
Cam Ward made 23 saves in regulation and overtime, then stopped two shots in the shootout for the Hurricanes, who are 8-0-1 in their past nine home games.
Derick Brassard scored the go-ahead goal early in the second period and Mike Condon stopped 29 shots for host Ottawa, which snapped a three-game losing streak by handing New Jersey its fifth consecutive loss.
Vinnie Hinostroza scored the tie-breaking goal with 4:25 left and Artemi Panarin added an empty-netter as visiting Chicago won its fourth in a row.
