Those Women rocket away from sexism

“Make a break for it!” Depicted are three women from varying historical eras gleefully perched atop a rocket to outer space.

With “Escape Velocity,” the 3-year-old company, whose mission is to explore “hidden truths of gender and power,” mounts six short plays that envision wild, fantastical alternatives to sexist realities past and present, real and mythological.

Highlights include Carol Lashof’s “Who Dares,” which imagines Macbeth getting a second chance from the three weird sisters, and Genevieve Jessee’s “Control,” which pits a contemporary male abortion opponent against Margaret Sanger.
