Various activities lined-up for ‘Araw ng Angono’ on Aug. 19
Residents of Angono, Rizal are expected to participate in various activities on Friday, Aug. 19, declared as a non-working holiday in the municipality by Malacanang in observance of the 84th anniversary of the singing of its independence from Binganonan.
By virtue of Proclamation No. 28, Series of 2022, Aug. 19, 2022 has been declared a non-working day in Angono, Rizal.
The office of Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon announced that month-long activities, including the simultaneous tree planting events, will mark the occasion.
Calderon will lead municipal officials in a wreath laying ceremony at the foot of the monument of the signatory of the declaration of the town’s independence, President Manuel Luis Quezon, at the municipal ground at 8 a.m. on Friday, August 19.
At 9 a.m. on Friday, there will be a free medical consultation and laboratory services in Barangay Mahabang Parang.
At the Angono History Art Museum inside the Angono Lakeside Park, members of the Knights of Rizal Angono will hold the ceremony of dubbing, exaltation, and chartering to be led by the Knights of Rizal Supreme Commander — Angono Vice Mayor Gerardo “Gerry” Calderon.
At 6 p.m., the Gawad Punongbayan, an awarding ceremony recognizing the achievers of the town will be held at the Angono Gymnasium.
The Angono National High School in Barangay Kalayaan will be the venue for the “Bandahala” Concert For A Cause at 6 p.m.
Other activities are also scheduled until Aug. 31 as part of the commemoration of the most significant historical event of the town.
