Lenny Kravitz turns camera on paparazzi, fans in photo exhibit
While shooting photos on his days off from touring, Kravitz set out hoping to capture soulful photographs and people in their everyday environments.
After several frustrating encounters, the rocker turned the camera on the crowds and started clicking — almost a joke at first.
Kravitz, who has lived in Miami on and off for decades, said the exhibit also speaks to the culture’s obsession with documenting everything from food to nail art, without realizing the human connections given up in return.
Sometimes people will say to me, ‘Can I have a picture?’ And I’ll say, ‘Look, I can’t right now,’ but I’ll say, ‘It’s so nice to meet you,’ and I’ll take my glasses off and look them in the eye ... and I’ll give them a hug and they’ll say, ‘No, no, no, I want the picture’... and I’m like, ‘We just had a moment.’
The rocker is releasing an album in 2016, but declined to give any details on the project, which he said he hopes to finish in the next two or three months.
