2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC300: Luxury SUV gets a transformation

Built on an all-new platform with more standard equipment than ever and Mercedes's latest Intelligent Drive safety technologies, it features a redesigned grille; striking new headlights and taillights with optional intelligent LED lighting systems; three new paint colors; new 18-, 19-, and 20-inch wheel designs; and an easy-pack tailgate with hands-free access that's activated by swiping one's foot under the bumper.

The coefficient of drag is improved by the smoother styling, an extended rear spoiler, active grille shutters, and other aerodynamic tuning; this also increases fuel efficiency.

On the inside is a tastefully redesigned interior with more space for passengers and cargo than previous models, a choice of three types of trim featuring high-class materials like luxurious wood and Nappa leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, keyless start, as well as an extensive range of options for indulgent personalization.

On the standard and available features list are multicolor ambient lighting, fragrance atomization, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, head-up display, an active parking system with steering assist, and a 360-degree parking camera with front- and rear cross-path visualization.

Standard safety equipment includes up to nine airbags and assistance systems such as collision prevention assist plus, crosswind assist, adaptive Highbeam assist, attention assist, and an ESP system with dynamic cornering assist.

An optional driver assistance package includes Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control with steering assist, Pre-Safe braking with pedestrian detection, brake assist Plus with cross-traffic assist, active blind spot assist, active lane keeping assist, and Pre-Safe Plus.

Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport-plus, and Individual; the Individual mode provides Agility Control that allows the driver to make changes to the steel springs/variable damping suspension system and other settings for different ride characteristics.
