Celtics defeat Kings in Mexico City
Isaiah Thomas tormented his former team, scoring 21 points and leading the Boston Celtics over the Sacramento Kings 114-97 Thursday night in the NBA’s third regular-season game played in Mexico City.
The game drew an announced crowd of 18,660.
Rajon Rondo, playing against his former team for the second time in his career, was sent off the court in the third quarter after a double technical foul and finished with five points for the Kings.
The game was one of two NBA regular-season games to be played outside the U.S. and Canada this season.
Damian Lillard had 26 points and backcourt partner C.J. McCollum added 21 as Portland snapped Indiana’s six-game winning streak and its run of four road victories.
The Blazers had a season-high 18 three-pointers.
Kawhi Leonard scored 27 points, shooting 7-for-9 on three-pointers, to help visiting San Antonio win for the seventh time in eight games.
Tobias Harris scored 17 points in visiting Orlando’s season-best fifth straight win.
Will Barton came off the bench to score 22 points and Danilo Gallinari added 21 as visiting Denver stopped an eight-game losing streak.
Russell Westbrook’s three-point try from the right wing bounced off the backboard as time expired.
