0

With 11 nods for his album, “To Pimp a Butterfly,” Kendrick Lamar led the nominations for the 58th annual Grammy Awards, which were announced on Monday. In the album of the year category, Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” is up against Swift’s “1989,” the Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness,” Alabama Shakes' Sound & Color and country singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton's Traveller. In the best new artist category, pop hitmakers Meghan Trainor and James Bay will face off against breakout country star Sam Hunt, the up-and-coming songstress Tori Kelly and the Australian rocker Courtney Barnett. The nominees for record of the year, which awards artists, include Swift’s “Blank Space,” the Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” D’Angelo and the Vanguard’s “Really Love,” Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars. Lamar's other nominations include best rap album for "Butterfly," rap performance for "Alright," pop duo/group performance for "Bad Blood" with Swift and dance recording "Never Catch Me" with Flying Lotus. Unlike, last year, when the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the Grammys, announced the nominations one-by-one on Twitter, this year they dumped them all at once on their website at 8:30 a.m. ET.
