Help out nonprofits by eating in
Lasagna lovers, rejoice — layer upon layer of the culinary delight will be assembled and delivered right to your doorstep next week.
For nearly a decade, hundreds of Capital Region families have looked forward to one night in December on which they can wear comfy pants and eat homemade lasagna without turning on the oven — or leaving home for that matter.
All materials and labor for the dinner — which includes lasagna, garlic bread, salad and a home-baked sweet — are donated.
Vegetarian lasagna dinners will be available for pickup at the church and will also be delivered residents in Schenectady and Saratoga at the following ZIP codes: 12301, 12302, 12303, 12304, 12305, 12306, 12308, 12309, 12325, 12148 and 12866.
Money collected from this year's dinner, which has become a staple of the holiday season for many, will be used to help the people of New Orleans as they continue to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina, as well as the nonprofit MoonCatcher Project, which provides reusable menstrual pads for girls in Africa to help them stay in school.
When Tropical Storm Irene hit the East Coast, the fundraiser was expanded to help residents in Schoharie rebuild in the wake of historic flooding.
