Times Union All-Stars: boys' soccer (large schools)

The Ballston Spa boys' soccer team had a historic run in 2015, and the Scotties rode a tremendous senior season by midfielder Connor DeFilippis to the Class AA state final.

Ballston Spa shared the Section II Class AA championship with Shaker but advanced to regionals on penalty kicks, including one by DeFilippis.

The Scotties faced a big test against Ithaca, ranked No. 1 in the state at the time, in the state semifinals, but DeFilippis came through with a pair of goals and helped his team pull off a major upset over the nationally-ranked Little Red.

First team

Caused major matchup problems throughout the season for opposing defenses and led the Blue Bison with 15 goals and five assists.

Shared the Foothills Council Most Valuable Player honors after helping the Tartans capture the league crown.

The Spartans went from winning two games in 2014 to earning a spot in the Class A semifinals this year behind a stellar effort from Carr.
