Susan L. Davis is an architect and the principal of SD Atelier Architecture with her husband.

SD Atelier Architecture was established in 1996 and is located in the Algonquin Building in Saratoga Springs.

How did you get interested in architecture?

I always enjoyed arts and I was always a decent math student.

[...] you went to college for architecture?

[...] we have gone after certain project types: residential is what we have a name for but we also do historical renovation projects.

Going through architecture school, there was probably a 5-to-1 ratio, as far as men to women.

[...] I think that there are a lot of women that are in architecture that are studying now, but when it comes to the number of women who go get licensed, that number starts to diminish.

[...] for the most part I think that if you are a female in the industry and you have the background in the industry you're talking about, you have their respect.

Sometimes it is awkward going to job sites.
