The University of Chicago is preparing to “intervene” to remove the pro-Palestine encampment from the school’s Main Quadrangle, president Paul Alivisatos said Friday, claiming student protestors have created a “systemic disruption” on campus. Serial Chicago con man gets 9 years in federal prison for ‘extraordinarily large amount of offenses’

Serial Chicago con man Joey Cipolla was sentenced to nine years in federal prison Friday for what the judge called “an extraordinarily large amount” of schemes to cheat people out of money. Man pulled from Calumet River identified as missing man from South Chicago

A male body pulled from the Calumet River last Wednesday was identified as a 24-year-old man who was reported missing in April, officials said. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the man was identified as Jovon Tyree Brown-Nelson of the 3200 block of East 92nd Street. Nelson was last seen April 9 in the block where he lived, blocks away from where he found in the Calumet River. Shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, a male body was pulled from the river in the 9100 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago police said.



3 men sentenced to federal prison on charges of robbing UPS driver at gunpoint in Oak Park

Two men from Chicago and another from the west suburbs have each been sentenced to several years in federal prison after guilty pleas on robbery charges, including holding up a UPS driver in Oak Park and carjacking motorists there and in other nearby areas. Jaheim Henyard, 22, of Chicago, was sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison. Darius Young, 28, of west suburban Berwyn, was sentenced to four years. Lawyers for families at heart of Arlington Heights school nurse ‘misuse’ of meds case want principal on leave

The law firm retained by several families of children at the center of a probe into an Arlington Heights school nurse’s”misuse” of the kids’ medications is calling for the principal to be removed, pending the outcome of the investigation. The nurse is already on leave, according to Arlington Heights School District 25 officials.
